DALLAS
-- Marshall Goss "Joe" Royal. Born in Denison, Texas November 13, 1948
to Eleanor Bohannan Royal and Clarence Royal. Died December 21, 2000 in Dallas,
Texas. Joe was a friend to all he met. He will be remembered for his wit, sense
of humor and fun-loving ways. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by all.
Joe was a member of the track team and graduated high school
as a Denison Yellow Jacket in May 1968. He was a member of the U.S. Army and a
veteran of the Vietnam War, 1st Air Calvary, who served his country honorably
from 1969 to 1971 and again from 1977 to 1980. Joe received numerous medals
while serving in combat in Vietnam and was most proud of his Air Medal which he
received for numerous combat assaults while in the air over Vietnam aboard the
Huey Helicopter.
Joe was
preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Bohannan Royal, and his father,
Clarence Royal Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Mallonda Janet Royal, one
grandchild, sisters Wynetta Neal, Cheryl Denise Whaley, and Linda Gayle Jones,
brothers Clarence Jr., William, Robert Wayne and Talford, along with numerous
nieces and nephews and an unfathomable amount of friends.
Friends will be received at the Lomax Funeral Home, 4602 Scyene Road, Dallas, Texas on Thursday, December 28, 2000 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Wake 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lone Star Baptist Church, 323 W. Main Street, Dallas, Texas. Rev. Harold Ray Lester will preside. Interment and graveside service will immediately follow at Lincoln Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
