Juanita “Baby Mae” Hunt, the first of five children born to the late Charlie and Hazel Lee Bell of Denison, Texas, brought sunshine and joy to her parents when she arrived on August 15, 1943 at the Madonna Hospital.
She was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church throughout her childhood and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She attended Denison Public Schools and graduated from Terrell High School in 1961.
Upon graduation, she moved to California and attended Los Angeles City College. When Juanita returned to Denison, she began working at Texas Instruments, working there 24 years until she retired in 1992. During her retirement years she worked as a Foster Grandparent in Elementary Schools both in Denison and McKinney Texas. She met and married the love of her life, Wesley Alexander Hunt Sr., in 1962. To this union, three wonderful sons were born: Wesley Alexander, Jr., Kevin Andre’ Hunt, and Kendall Roman Hunt. She loved them dearly and lived with her sons and their families’ over the years, whenever the need arose; moving to Atlanta with Wesley Jr., and Princeton and Wylie with Kevin. She adored being a Grandmother and cherished the times she spent with her grandchildren.
While raising her sons, Juanita taught them to love and honor their parents and grandparents, respect and honor the Lord our God and the church, and most of all to accept full responsibility for their actions. She firmly believed that family was ordained by God and should therefore love, forgive, and maintain fellowship with one another no matter how long it took (Matthew 5: 22-25).
Juanita was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church all of her life. While living in McKinney with Kevin and his family, she began fellowship with New Outreach COGIC and she later joined the 2nd Chance Prison Ministry. She worked untiringly, visiting both the men’s and women’s prisons, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and testifying to the goodness of God and salvation through Jesus Christ. Juanita also united in fellowship with Trinity Lighthouse and Coffee Memorial COGIC in Denison during different stages of her life, finally returning to Hopewell in 2004.
During the last few months of her life, when she was able, she began attending Northplace Church in Sachse with Kevin, Kendall, and their families. She was heard to say that she loved all of her churches, honored all of her pastors, and cherished all of her church families. She was truly honored by the love and support she was shown. Juanita entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Garnet Hill Rehabilitation Center in Wylie, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
